OUR JOURNEY

Girl 360 is a registered NGO in Ghana since 2018. The organization was born out of pure passion in 2015 when the founder worked extensively with young girls under the Ghana Adolescent Health Project(GHARH) sponsored by UK government in the former Brong Ahafo region. There she came into contact with young amazing young girls and boys were helpless on what adolescent transition means and locked the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about sexual and reproductive health practices. Girls and Boys who lacked knowledge of the changes going on in their body as they transition to adulthood. For the girl-child, she observed the situation was much more than lack of knowledge on puberty but also lack of access to menstrual hygiene products during their periods. This condition predisposes these girls to school absenteeism, early sex and marriages, teenage pregnancies and all forms of violence including sexual violence, and risky behaviors. Then she knew she needed to do something. Since the founder used comunity avenues like PTAs, church, and women’s group meetings to create awareness of Menstrual Hygiene Education, Period Povery, and Girl-Child Education. Since 2020(during and post COVID-19) to date, the founder and her team visited several schools in Brong A fo, Central and Greater Accra, regions distirutiing free sanitary pads coupled with menstrua health education for girls and boys. During the peak of COVID-19 locked down , with scarce resources and many restrictions, with most women and families losing their sourc of income, the founder and her team supported a group of community owmen in Kwatire to make their own reusable pads for use. Ever since, the founder has also been hosted on several media houses to educate the public on period poverty and its impact on women and girls development.
